Although I got a few cars from kawasaki car from the past, I chose OHLINS for purchasing ZZr 1400 this time. For installation, hook the Center Stand and bite the tree on the bottom of the Tire and loosen the Bolt and shift the bottom LINK, you can lower the Normal Suspension. In the manual, there was explanation of the type that is slightly unkind and turning Dial type and hexagon, but this type is not written as this type. So I purchased Long Type's Hexagonal Wrench and it became easier to adjust. Now it's easier to get on a little. I will set it a little more in the future.
I bought the OHLINS TTX39 after saving a lot of money, but it has been lying in the corner of my room for a long time because of the troublesome installation process. The Switch was forced to put in the motivation this time, and finally arrived at the installation.
First of all, the 14R Custom is the standard OHLINS, and I couldn't think of any other choice because it's been adopted as OEM.
The Adjuster can be installed in the same position as the OEM. That's why I look at the Parts List and buy OEM parts such as Bracket, Clip and Bolt separately.
The first thing you need to do is to lift the car with the Center Stand. This was the only time I regretted putting full fuel in the car. It's pretty heavy.
The next step is to remove the OEMSuspension, but the Swing Arm needs to be lifted to release the load on the suspension, so jack it up.
Remove the upper bolt of the OEMSuspension, then remove the LowerLink arm and the lower bolt and the suspension can be removed. Be careful not to drop the suspension on the hard ground, as it will fall with more force than you can imagine.
It was Large strange to work alone to remove the LowerLink arm of the incidental work. The LowerArm is structurally fastened with Bolt & Nut, so you need to make sure you don't rotate either One Side. Fortunately, I had an extra-long spanner, so I managed to use the ground to deal with it.
The installation is just the reverse of the basic procedure, but the TTX39 is not easy to install from the bottom because of the large size of the tank. It's like a circle of wisdom that you canApproach at various angles and manage to get in.
Then you can easily install the lower bolt and lower arm by penetrating the extra-long driver for the upper position.
If you tighten the top and bottom bolts with the prescribed torque, the body installation is complete.
Preload Adjuster installation is done by referring to the OEM and installing the Bracket first. When attaching the adjuster to the bracket, make sure that the wire cable does not interfere with the suspension or the body of the car and that the cable is not bent or twisted at a steep angle.
Clip is done if you put it in the position where the adjuster's Cable will move to free.
Impressions of use. However, the OHLINS TTX has a finer texture, better suspension movement, and a more refined ride quality.
The biggest benefit of this is that it is much easier to adjust the pre-road, so it can be adjusted to suit the weight of the luggage.
Honestly was expecting more from it, took it to a suspension shop to tune to my spec, is it worth 1400 Aud, approximately 300 Aud FeDex and about 300 Aud custom clearance? Maybe. Looks nice, I had a couple of good Ohlins shocks on my track bikes which offered more adjustment and when acceleration it is night and day difference, but the category of this bike is still a more naked/sport touring bike, maybe my mindset is wrong, rode about 200kms now, I have done: heavy, sharp, smooth acceleration, top speed, low speed, stoppies, some twisties, did not meet my performance level exception, but again, maybe Ohlins intentionally wants more comfort rather than performance? Great looking tho, texture and everything up to Ohlins standard, this is just a short term review, who knows, maybe the setting for currently is all wrong, might have to tune it again. This was a upgrade from a GO Race tuned rear shock. Granted the go race most likely needed to be serviced, but this was big improvment. I can't say it's worth the money unless you just want to spend some money...but nice if you do. View Detail
About quality and texture: I am happy with the quality of the rear shock absorber from Ohins, only the best materials used and surface finishes obtained as you would expect for the price. Almost exclusively made from aluminium to keep the weight down and anodised for durability. About the feeling of use: The look of this rear shock absorber fitted to the Grom is sensational and the feel from the rear end while riding is like a completely different motorcycle now, with the ability to adjust pre-load, rebound and compression the adjustments are endless. Products to buy together: The Ohlins fork insert kit would also be desirable to purchase along side their rear shock absorber but sadly is not currently available here on Webike so would need to be purchased elsewhere. Difficulty of installation: The process to install takes about an hour, only 2 bolts holding it in place, I removed the rear hugger, seat and rear plastics then supported the rear of the motorcyce with an A frame and strap. A little difficult to do. Cost performance and comparison with other products: An extremely expensive option for a rear shock absorber for the Grom but if you have the money to spare you will not be disappointed. Any aftermarket rear shock absorber will be better then the Honda one and the options available from YSS should be looked at if your budget is limited. About shipping and packaging: Sea frieght is my preferred method of shipping due to the lower cost and it is fantastic that it has returned as an option once again so I can put my money toward parts and not high shipping costs.
